Julia Cherrone, DNP, PMHNP-BC

My name is Julia Cherrone and I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I practiced as an RN in the Pediatric ICU for 6.5 years where I learned how to care for children, teens, and families during some of the hardest times of their lives. I also cared for many patients and their families experiencing psychiatric crises during my time working in the PICU. Whenever there was a psychiatric patient on our unit, the other nurses would ask me to care for them because they said I was exceptionally good at caring for that patient population. It was during that time that I decided to go back to school to earn my Doctorate in Nursing in Psychiatric Mental Health. After beginning school, I transitioned to working on an inpatient psychiatric unit where I continued to care for children and teens. I also worked on the adult units from time to time. After working inpatient psych for about 8 months, I transitioned to working outpatient, where I began working primarily with adults. I did this until I graduated with my DNP from the University of Michigan Flint and subsequently passed my PMHNP board exam. I then transitioned to working as a nurse practitioner primarily with the adult population before coming to Delta Family Clinic. While I enjoy caring for patients of all ages, I am very passionate about working with children, teens and their family.
